Greg’s Best Albums Of 2014

15-Sunbathing Animal by Parquet Courts

Officially the second coming of Pavement

Best Track: Black and White

14-The Voyager by Jenny Lewis

Another great album filled with ridiculously personal lyrics

Best Track: She’s Not Me

13-Shriek by Wye Oak

I don’t connect with the new electronic sound as much as their folkier stuff but this is just a great album

Best Track: The Tower

12-Small Town Heroes by Hurray For The Riff Raff

I have to admit I was late to this album but boy am I glad I found it! It’s like Fiona Apple singing Patsy Cline

Best Track: Blue Ridge Mountain

11-World Peace Is None Of Your Business by Morrissey

Full of Morrissey’s trademarked wit! The title of this album alone makes it deserving of this spot!

Best Track: World Peace is None Of Your Business

10-Upside Down Mountain by Conor Oberst

I love Conor Oberst but I must admit this one was a grower! The more I listen the more I love it!

Best Track: You Are Your Mother’s Child

9-Ryan Adams by Ryan Adams

Two great albums in a row! Ryan Adams is definitely back!

Best Track: Gimme Something Good

8-1989 by Taylor Swift

Just plain and simply enjoyable to listen to!

Best Track: Style

7-Morning Phase by Beck

Sad folky Beck=my favorite Beck

Best Track: Heart is a Drum

6-Brill Bruisers by The New Pornographers

A.C. Newman writing songs for Neko Case will never not be BRILLIANT! Then add A.C.s and Dan’s own stuff=perfection

Best Track: War On The East Coast

5-Metamodern Sounds in Country Music by Sturgill Simpson

Waylon Jennings with a slight psychedelic twist. Some people like to call him the savior of country music…but not enough people listen to him for that to be true for the real savior of country music see number 2

Best Track: Turtles all the Way Down

4-Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs

Every time I listen to this album I think it should be higher on this list

Best Track: Red Eyes

3-St. Vincent by St. Vincent

What Lady Gaga would love to be…True art pop!

Best Track: Digital Witness

2-The Outsiders by Eric Church

The true savior of country music! A true album! Dark! Strange piano percussion! A lot of talking but still manages to be mostly country radio friendly

Best Track: Roller Coaster Ride

1-They Want My Soul by Spoon

Quite Simply just a great album by a great band!

Best Track: Inside Out
